Sheet Piling: Sheet pile walls are retaining walls constructed to retain earth, water or any other filling materials. These walls are thinner in section compared to masonry walls. Sheet pile walls are generally used for the following:Waterfront structures, etc... in building wharfs, quays and piers.
Cantilever Retaining Walls: Sometimes these can be referred to as a reinforced retaining wall due to the steel bars that run through the masonry or retaining wall. They are affixed to a slab foundation that goes under the soil the wall is holding up in a sort of 'L' shape. Weight from the above wall holds the entire slab down so the wall cannot tip forward. These walls tend to also carry vertical wings to the foundation that provide additional strength and rigidity.
